Biography

Gavin_IMG_0010-3Kitty Lai Ngok-man is a young Hong Kong Soprano. She is currently studying Early Music Voice at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (Royal Conservatory The Hague) in the Netherlands, studying with Rita Dams and Noa Frenkel. Under the guidance of Jill Feldman, Dorothée Mields, Peter Kooij, Pascal Bertin and Robin Blaze, she has developed a keen interest in music of the Baroque era.

 

Kitty started her musical training at the age of 6 with her violin teachers, Sheung Ying and Cindy Chen. After receiving her first degree in Linguistics and Language Technology from City University of Hong Kong, she discovered her passion in language and singing. She then began her vocal training with Chan Siu-kwan, with whom she graduated in Bachelor of Arts in Music with first-class honours in Hong Kong Baptist University. During her study, she received Hong Kong Children’s Choir Scholarship, Italian Cultural Society of Hong Kong – Leo Tung-hai Lee Scholarship Fund, Dr. Daniel Tse Music Scholarship, and K. Wah International Vocal Scholarship. Kitty was also selected as Young Music Makers 2017 by Radio Television Hong Kong.

Kitty has appeared as an oratorio soloist in Bach’s Christus, der ist mein Leben (BWV 95), Ich bin in mir vergnügt (BWV 204), Magnificat (BWV 243), Haydn’s Missa Brevis in F, Brahms’ Requiem and Mozart’s Exsultate, Jubilate (K165). She participated in masterclass by Raina Kabaivanska in Accademia Chigiana Siena in Italy, Cavalli’s opera Giasone, directed by Michael Chance and two productions in Hong Kong Art Festival: Hong Kong Odyssey and The Dream of the Red Chamber. She also worked with such prestigious musicians as Ben Parry, Ko Matsushita, JanJoost van Elburg, Peter Dijkstra, Sébastien Marq, Patrick Ayrton and Mike Fentross. Kitty also has a keen interest in polyphonic music. She performed Josquin des Prez’s Franco-Flemish polyphonic music with original scores in Belgium, as well as in an early music conference organized by European Association of Conservatories (AEC) in Romania.

Her recent solo performances include Sangaride in Lully’s Atys with Sébastien Marq and The Fairy Queen with Michael Chance.

女高音黎樂敏出生於香港,現於荷蘭海牙皇家音樂學院(Royal Conservatory The Hague)進修早期聲樂,師隨 Rita Dams 和 Noa Frenkel。因受到Jill Feldman、Dorothée Mields、Peter Kooij、Pascal Bertin 和 Robin Blaze的悉心指導,對巴洛克時期音樂產生濃厚的興趣。

黎氏自六歲開始習小提琴,先後師隨相鷹、陳蓉暉。於香港城市大學中文、翻譯及語言學系畢業後,毅然投身音樂界,並得到陳少君女士悉心指導,後以一級榮譽畢業於香港浸會大學音樂系。在學期間曾獲得多項獎學金,包括香港兒童合唱團獎學金、香港意大利文化協會—李東海獎學金、謝志偉博士音樂奬學金及嘉華國際聲樂獎學金。黎氏更獲選為香港電台樂壇新秀2017其中一員。

黎氏的獨唱演出包括:巴哈的《我的生命基督》 (BWV 95)、《我心靈滿足》 (BWV 204)、《尊主頌》 (BWV 243)、海頓《F大調彌撒》、布拉姆斯的《安魂曲》和莫札特經文歌《你們歡欣、雀躍吧!》(K165)。她曾於意大利參與Raina Kabaivanska 的大師班,於荷蘭演唱 Michael Chance 指揮的卡瓦利音樂劇 《Giasone》,並在香港藝術節參與演唱《世紀.香港》(Hong Kong Odyssey)和由三藩市歌劇院與香港藝術節聯合製作的《紅樓夢》(The Dream of Red Chamber)。她曾合作的優秀的音樂家包括:Ben Parry、Ko Matsushita、Robin Blaze、JanJoost van Elburg、Sébastien Marq、Patrick Ayrton 和 Mike Fentross。黎氏對複音音樂有獨特的興趣,分別於比利時及羅馬尼亞以原始曲譜演唱 若斯坎·德普雷的複音音樂。

在2019年,黎氏飾演盧利音樂劇《阿提斯》中的Sangaride和演唱由Michael Chance指揮的音樂劇《仙后》。
